5 Reasons You Need a Dog

Dogs are amazing, they are our best friends, they show us love each and every day, and they become the most amazing companions throughout our lives. I love my dog and would not trade her for the world, but if you are thinking about getting a dog and need some reasons, here are five.

They reduce anxiety

Dogs are great at reducing our stress levels and they can also help with feelings of depression and anxiety. The reason for this is that they show us love every single day, they are always there for us when we need them, and they always cuddle us after a long, hard day. When you are feeling down, your dog is guaranteed to make you feel loved and needed. They are great companions

Dogs are woman’s best friend for a reason. They have been by our side for thousands of years and there is no way that we will ever be without them. If you ever feel lonely and you need someone to be with you, your dog will be there to cuddle, to play with, or just to hang out on the sofa watching movies.

They make us more social

If you find small talk difficult to initiate or want to find an excuse to talk to that cute guy, take your dog for a walk. Dogs are great conversation starts and offer a good excuse to just happen to be in the cute guy’s neighborhood walking the dog. Dog people tend to be sociable and will start making conversation with you about your dog.  Finding out you both own a certain type of dog or your dogs have the same temperament is a great conversation starter.  You can also arrange play dates for your dogs or you can arrange to meet at the dog park with other pet owners. Dogs like children provide a great deal of material for conversations, so you can avoid that awkward small talk.

They keep us healthy

Dogs force us to get out of the house each day for a walk and what is more healthier than a walk every day. I walk my dog at least twice a day rain or shine providing great exercise for myself and getting us both out for some fresh air.  Walking helps you maintain a healthy weight, prevent or manage various conditions, including heart disease, high blood pressure, and type 2 diabetes, strengthen your bones and improves mood. Sometimes though as our dogs age they suffer from joint pain and arthritis so it is important to provide them with treats that help with these conditions like https://www.certapet.com/cbd-dog-treats/, or supplements with glucosamine and chondroitin.

They offer us unconditional love

Dogs are always happy to see us. They always love us, and they always need us. It is amazing to come home each day to see a smiling face looking up at you and a wagging tail because they are so excited that you have come home. A dog is the only animal that loves you more then they love themselves.  For your dog, you are the world.  When me and my siblings grew up and started leaving, my mom got her first dog and we teased her that he was her replacement child. The funny thing is, we all started looking at him like he was our little brother too.  He always had a smiling happy face and loved mom to no end.  When he passed we were devastated but we would not have changed one minute of him being in our lives.
