“Expect the unexpected.” she said reaching for a condom.
“Don’t worry about tomorrow, there is only now.” he said smothering her in kisses.
“Congratulations! It’s a girl” the midwife said.
“Expect the unexpected.” she said stashing the money in a coffee can.
“Don’t worry about tomorrow, there is only now.” he said pocketing the money after she left the room.
“sleep little baby” she softly sang as she rocked the baby and waited for him to come home.
“Expect the unexpected.” she said softly to herself as she thinks of a plan of escape.
“Don’t worry about tomorrow, there is only now.” he said almost incoherently in a drunken voice as he passed out in the floor.
“Mommy boo boo?” the baby said looking at her mother’s battered face.

I hope women in danger out there know they can get help even now, during social distancing. It’s horrible to think of them being stuck at home all day with an abuser.
