Being Grateful in the Heat

I woke up this morning hot and sweaty.  The air conditioner in my room had stopped working at some point during the night. At first I was irritated and then I walked into the hallway and felt the cool breeze from my other two air conditioners in the house.  At that point, I reminded myself to be grateful for the ones that were working instead of being irritated with the one that was not.  Instead of three working air conditioners in my house,I have two and I am grateful for those.  During this record heatwave, there are many people who do not have air conditioning at all or even a fan.
Right now, instead of focusing on how hot it is outside, how irritable the heat makes you, and how your icemaker is not keeping up with the demand for ice cold drinks, be grateful.  Be grateful for that icemaker, that clean drinking water, that air conditioning and that electricity that enables it all to work.  There are people who go to sleep praying for what you take for granted. Be thankful for what you have and share your good forutune. Buy a cold drink for a person who is homeless, place a bowl of water outside for the feral cats and the wildlife who are desperate for water right now, or share an ice cream with a friend. Celebrate what you have and be grateful – for in gratitude, we are all wealthy.
What are you grateful for today? How can you celebrate your gratitude and help out others during this heatwave?  Leave me a comment below.

  1. That’s a good way of expressing gratitude. I have a lot of problems and wishes in life but I suppose it’s better to be grateful because there are others who don’t have the things that I do have and who probably have more severe problems than I do. This is a good post and thanks for sharing.

  2. Very nicely said! We also feed the ferral cats in the neighborhood and have rescued 2 cats & 1 dog off the streets. We also given the mailman cold water, Gatorade and ice pops lol We try whenever we can!

    1. If everyone did just a little to pay it forward everyday, imagine how wonderful the world would be. Thank you for doing your part. Gratitude
